Yes, our cognitive based methods of IBSR Primer, CBT, talk therapy/counseling and communication coaching last 1 hour for individuals and 1.5 hours for couples, families and groups. Our somatic more comprehensive protocol, IBSR lasts longer and can be anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours, sometimes even longer. However, with any of our methods sometimes clients need their treatment to be broken up over multiple short sessions. Therefore, we are able to break up treatments into several sessions.
What is short-term resolution focused therapy?
We are an Out-of-Network Provider. This means that we do not take insurance directly. This allows us to provide you with a comprehensive, short-term and specialized treatment, as well as more privacy and flexibility than if insurance were used. If you do want to use health insurance, please see below.
Ask your insurance company if you can see Out-of-Network Providers and how much you would be reimbursed for each session. We can provide you with a receipt that includes all information needed for your insurance company to process the claim, including your payment and the services provided. Your insurance company may reimburse you, so be sure to verify any questions with your insurance company prior to your appointment. During a complimentary phone consultation, we can answer any questions regarding how to use your insurance.
On a limited basis, we offer some sliding scale options to those in need. Our office will let you know your sliding scale options during your initial call.
When Is Payment Due?
Clients are required to pay the agreed-upon fee at the time of service, whether or not your insurance company reimburses you. We will give you a receipt, or a "Super Bill," after each session that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
Why Doesn't the Bodymind Institute-IBSR Take Insurance?
If we were to bill your insurance directly, we would be required to disclose your personal health information, including diagnosis, to your insurance company. Sometimes the insurance company also requires information about family history, substance use, previous psychiatric treatment, medications, abuse history, and other private information. This may result in higher premiums for health insurance or life insurance. Insurance companies also may set limits on the number of sessions that are authorized, or deny certain types of therapy or needed testing. By not accepting health insurance, we are also able to spend more time with clients, rather than on insurance paperwork. This also limits the office staff needed, keeping fees as low as possible.
Yes, the Bodymind Institute-IBSR accepts all major credit cards. Debit cards, personal checks, cashier's checks, and cash are also acceptable forms of payment.

When I make an appointment with you, I reserve that time especially for you (I do not double book). You must notify me by phone 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel, otherwise you will be charged the full amount of your appointment fee, unless we both agree that the cancellation was unavoidable. If you wake up the day of your appointment and find that you or your child is too sick to attend our session, call me and we will find another time. I recognize that either you or I may have unavoidable events occur that prevent us from providing 24-hour notice. If we find that this policy is being abused and you have frequent cancellations without a 24-hour notice, then you will be charged for the missed appointment.
